“Vacation memories last a lifetime!” This isn’t just my motto but something I have said for years. And it was while on vacation when I decided to become a travel agent.

That decision did not happen overnight. During my family’s first vacation to Walt Disney World, we made the mistake of not having a plan on how to see the parks. For instance, we wasted precious time in Magic Kingdom, by reading maps and generally being indecisive about which ride to go on. Once we arrived at a ride, the line would be 45 min. long! I said to myself, “If we ever come back to Walt Disney World, we need to have an itinerary.” Without one, I knew the magic of the parks would be lost to us. Once I became an “expert” at making these plans, I wrote them for friends and family who loved them!

On one of our many trips to Walt Disney World, I began talking to a woman at the airport, who happened to be going as well. She shared with me that it was her granddaughter’s first visit to Walt Disney World. Since I now considered myself an expert, I was able to give her advice on things to do, as well as timesavers with her granddaughter. She was so impressed by my advice and passion that she handed me her business card. She asked me to call her when I returned from my vacation. It turned out she was a travel agent and recognized that “travel was in my blood.” With her sage advice, my career as a travel agent was born!
